Happy Holidays from Florida

Only Three weeks left in Florida.  Next week we go to DC to see family for XMAS.  This gig has been very easy and we plan on returning next year.  Merry Christmas to all family and friends.

First week in Florida

We are now in Florida, at Florida Caverns State Park in Marianna.  We both got singed off to do cave tours on our own after just 3 days.  This park is located in a hardwood forest with lots of wildlife around.  There are only 4 couples in the volunteer village and it is very quiet.  The temperature here has been in mid 60's high and high 30's low, can you believe it.  The rangers treat us very good, the extras here are free firewood, boat rental and laundry facilities.  We only work 3 days a week.

A Battery of Cannons

We are finally off the road for awhile, we put 11,000 miles on the
truck, did stay in Indiana a month camp hosting and visiting with
family and friends.  We also became new grandparents again last week,
that makes 4 boys and 3 girls (first girl in 12 years, Lara Elizabeth Henry)

We are at Chickamauga National Military Park in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.  We really
like it here and are learning so much about the Civil War, this is the
oldest and largest Military Park in the Nation.  We work two days here
and two days at Lookout Mountain.  We are the only RV Volunteers here
so pretty much have the whole 5300 acre park to ourselves.  We will be
here 2 months then on to Florida for 2 months.  Then back to Georgia
again at Fort Pulaski for the winter.

They asked us to take pictures here at some of the living history and
cannon firings, they may use them in their next brochure  We were able
to get some pretty spectacular shots.

Took these pictures the other day at Chickamauga National Military Battlefield

Was told by one of the Rangers at Point Park on Lookout Mt that this picture will be on next years annual pass for the park.

Two weeks left at Chickamauga, then off to Florida.  Had to get a towable car for Teresa to pull behind the motor
coach.  Teresa is now doing all the driving due to new medication I'm on, but she is doing a great job.  Still no word from DC Booth about next summer, but we haven't given up yet.

Well, another week down, we now have 5 weeks left before heading to Florida.  Still enjoying the battlefield life and the weather has started to cool down and leaves are starting to fall.  Have heard from all of our RV friends and glad all is well.

Family and friends along the way.

We spent a month in Virginia visiting with family.  Helped our son Richard and his wife Rebecca paint and remodeling their new house in Arlington, we spent some special time with our youngest grandson little Rob.  Then went down to Newport News to visit with my brother Mike and his wife Colleen.  We then headed for North Carolina to visit with cousin Amy & Jim and Aunt Laura.  Saw some friends Ruth & Charles in Roxboro.  Saw Teresa's cousin Jenny & John & Alley & Tyler.  Traded the Travel Trailer for a Motor Home.  Heading for South Carolina, Paris Mountain SP. We are now in Tenn. waiting for our next gig in Georgia the end of the month.  Here are a few pictures from along the way.
