Washington Monument & Fort McHenry

Spent part of the day at the First Washington monument.  Quite different than the one in DC.  Also went to Fort McHenry in Baltimore with a couple of our Ranger friends from Catoctin Mountain.

The first Washington Monument near Boonesboro, MD

A view out over the town from the monument.

Star Spangled Banner 15 stars and 15 strips.

Cannon firing as it would have looked in the War of 1812

The Battle at Fort McHenry was in Sep 1814

Quarters inside the fort

This bed would have slept 3 to 5 people.

A look out over the Patapsco  River now at Fort McHenry.

Cannons around the star shaped fort.

This is the way the piling supports the fort.

Last month at Catoctin Mountain.

Down to about a month left here at Catoctin Mountain.  We are still trying to see all that we can while in the area.  Was able to spend some time with Richard, Rebecca and kids.  Helped Richard add a deck to the back of their house.  Teresa is learning to use a new macro lens, I think it will really add to our pictures.
