Life on Cockspur Island and in Savannah.

Made it through another week, I got certified to do Musket demo's and will be giving 2 programs a day this coming week.  Teresa will be roving the Fort talking with visitors, she is also working on giving Fort tours and a program on the Immortal Six Hundred.  The Rangers here really like the Volunteers and treat us very well.

We see lots of Deer everyday.

Yes, it's just that funny.

Never get tired of watching the big ships go by our front door.

We had to do wide angle on this shot to all of this ship in.  You can see the 40' Savannah River Pilots boat in the for ground and it is  about 50 yards from our front door.

Fort Pulaski, week 2

Another week at Fort Pulaski, Teresa is dressing in period clothing now and talking to people in the fort, she looks just like a Southern Bell.

Pictures of Fort Pulaski

This is going to be a fun place to work, learning more about 19th century homeland security, historic weapons and coastal battles.  We do get a good wind here every day, but the weather is nice.  Our rig faces the North channel of the Savannah river, we can see Hilton Head on a clean day.  Never get tired of watching big ships go in and out of the Savannah port.  We have a Bald eagle that comes by almost every day but have not been able to get his picture yet.

Fort Pulaski

Hello from Savannah.  We are at Fort Pulaski NM on Cockspur Island.  As normal, it started to rain after we got here.  Our site overlooks the Savannah River where we can see HUGE ships pass us at a distance of 100 yards and across the river is South Carolina.  Wildlife every place, we haven't began to be able to name all the birds we see here.  Dolphins rolling a long the river.  Steady breeze here in the park of about 10 mph.  They gave us the week off after we arrived so we could checkout the area.  Looks like we will both be able to dress in period clothing and take historic weapons training.
